LAHORE: (APP) Commissioner and Chairperson Lahore Ring Road (LRR) Authority Abdullah Khan Sumbal Thursday said completion of Southern loop of the LRR would expedite economic and social activities in the city besides providing transportation facility to people.
Talking to APP, Sumbal said the Punjab government had played its role in viability gap financing in the construction of 30-km long southern loop and convinced FWO to complete construction work in 4.25 billion rupees instead of 5.90 billion rupees.
"Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif has directed the FWO to complete southern loop within one year," he added.
He said the southern loop consisted of three sub-loops, including southern-I, II and III, while the FWO will start work on I and II loops which was 22-km long, he added.
To a question, he said a culture of speed, standard and transparency in development projects had been introduced and work was in progress on projects worth billions of rupees in social sectors as well as improvement of infrastructure.
He said southern loop of the Lahore Ring Road would accelerate economic and social activities in the province, including Lahore.
To another question, he said six interchanges, 18 bridges and 19 sub-ways would also be built during 22.4 km-long southern loop.
