LAHORE: (APP) Punjab Assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution against MQM Chief Altaf Hussain condemning his August 22 speech against Pakistan and high national security institutions.
The resolution urged the federal government to institute a high treason case against MQM leader for violating the Constitution.
The resolution moved by the provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan stated that MQM Chief was continuously spewing venom against Pakistan which tantamount to attack on country's sovereignty.
"The hate-inciting speech crossed all limits and no patriotic Pakistani can tolerate such a shameful, provocative and anti-Pakistan speech," said the resolution. It maintained that the country's real prosperity was in ensuring supremacy of the law and Constitution.
The House vehemently condemned attacks on media houses and said it tantamount to attack on freedom of Press and freedom of expression.
It said, in a democratic set up media plays a vital role and incidents of ransacking and display of an intolerant attitude was improper.
The House warned elements bent to attain ulterior motives for foreign masters through creating chaos and rumpus.
