KABUL: The head of the Taliban government in Afghanistan, Mullah Mohammad Hassan, has said in a statement that he hopes that the election of Shahbaz Sharif as Prime Minister will boost bilateral relations.
The statement came amid growing tensions between the two countries over the escalation of attacks on Pakistani forces, with Pakistan saying the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was operating from inside Afghanistan.
Mullah Mohammad Hassan said that on behalf of the Government and people of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, I heartily congratulate you (Shahbaz Sharif) on being elected the 23rd Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
