According to the Prime Minister’s Office, federal ministers of variousministries have signed performance agreements for the year 2020-21 in aspecial ceremony that was held in Islamabad.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan saidlink*,“We will put pressure on ourselves to take our governance performance tomuch higher levels in our remaining two-and-a-quarter years. We no longerhave an excuse that we’re new and are learning because most of us came intopower for the first time. The time for performance has arrived.”*
The agreements are meant to boost the performance of the governmentsignificantly as each minister must deliver in his individual capacity tothe full extent and that is the only way forward according to Khan. He saidthat the performance of each ministry will now be evaluated in light ofthese agreements and this will force the ministries to deliver.
He also said, *“After all, the public has to decide after five yearswhether we made their lives better or not; whether we fulfilled thepromises made to them or not.”*
He also said that the current system in Pakistan gives no time to theupcoming government to prepare for the current state of affairs as opposedto the system in the USA for example where they are given detailedbriefings beforehand. He mentioned that they spent the first three monthsjust understanding the state of affairs but now it is time to perform.
