ICC set to give worst blow to India s BCCI

DUBAI – International Cricket Council (ICC) has warned India that it canlose the hosting rights for the Champions Trophy and the World Cup.

ICC has asked the BCCI to pay USD 23 million before the end of 2018 or itcould lose the hosting rights of 2021 Champions Trophy and 2023 World Cup,according to a report.

The amount demanded by cricket’s governing body relates to the taxdeductions when India hosted the 2016 ICC World T20.

ICC didn’t get waiver from Indian government and it now wants the Indiancricket board to compensate it for the same. According to the report, failure to do so will result in ICC deducting the amount from BCCI’s shareof revenue for the current fiscal year.

The demand reportedly finds a mention in the minutes of ICC board meetingthat took place earlier this year in Singapore. On the other hand, BCCI hasdenied the existence of any such document and asked the ICC to share theminutes where the board agreed to pay the amount.
