Al Qaeda planning to strike Airports, hijacking planes

LONDON – The notorious terrorist group, responsible for the 9/11 attacks, has been overshadowed by Daesh in recent years, but a British ministerbelieves that Al-Qaeda was merely restructuring and finding new ways tocommit attacks in the modern world, Sputnik has reported.

UK Security Minister Ben Wallace said in an interview with The SundayTimes that the threat coming from al-Qaeda* hasn’t vanished and it onceagain threatens the civil aviation. According to him, the terrorist grouphas been quietly scheming up new ways of taking down planes and attackingairports.

Wallace added that al-Qaeda* had learned new ways to carry out aviationattacks, including the use of miniature explosives and infiltrating airportpersonnel with sleeper agents.

The security minister also expressed concern with the US decisionto withdraw the country’s forces from Syria, noting that al-Qaeda* andother terrorist groups may use the Arab country as a safe heaven and a basefor their operations.

US President Donald Trump announced earlier this week that the US troopswill be returning home from Syria within the next 100 days. Trump notedthat the goal to eliminate Daesh* in the Arab Republic had been achievedand thus the US military presence in the country was no longer needed.
