Afghan Police Commander killed in Taliban assault

KUNDUZ CITY – Afghan Police commander was killed and five of hissubordinates were wounded in a Taliban attack in northern Kunduz provinceon Sunday, an official said.

Lt. Col. Zahir, administrative chief for Khanabad district, told PajhwokAfghan News the militant assault took place in the Chahartot area of thedistrict this morning.

He said the militants attacked the vehicle of POP Commander Lt. Col. ShahTawoos. He added Tawoos was killed and five personnel of the force werewounded.

Nek Mohammad, an eyewitness, said: “I was heading to Takhar from Kunduz.The pick-up vehicle was attacked in Chahartot area where the militantsopened fire at it and then hit it with a rocket.”
