KARACHI – Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Appraisement West has foiled anattempt to clear Indian origin goods from Karachi port throughmiss-declaration. According to details, the department has receivedcredible information that some unscrupulous importers were involved inclearing certain items of Indian origin in the garb of China origin.

In order to verify the veracity of the information, documents of twoconsignments imported from Jebel Ali were examined for which importer haddeclared the goods as China origin in goods declaration filed for itsclearance and claimed exemption of customs duty and additional sales tax.

Furthermore, the department has conducted physical examination of the saidconsignments at Karachi International Containers Terminal (KICT). Theexamination report and labelled pasted on the goods revealed that theconsignments were manufactured by M/s Lexus Paints & Coatings, Plot No.G-2, Industrial Area, Phase-7 Mohali (Punjab), India (Made in India) andclassifiable under PCT 3206.4990 and whereas goods declarations filed forthe clearance of the same through custom agent, declared to contain originof goods as China and PCT Code 2821.1010.
