Khadim Hussain Rizvi reportedly been arrested: Sources

LAHORE – Tehreek-e-Labbaik Chief, Khadim Hussain Rizvi has reportedly beenarrested.

As per media report, Rizvi has been taken into custody by Punjab policeamid a crackdown on the religio-political on Friday.

The firebrand cleric, 52, was arrested from his Lahore’s residence ahead ofhis party’s planned rally to Rawalpindi.

Tehreek-e-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah’s Chairman Dr Ashraf Asif Jalali has alsobeen detained, according to reports in local media.

Rizvi had critisised state institutions including the government, militaryand the judiciary on numerous occasions, most notably after a failed roundof negotiations between the TLP and the government over the acquittal ofAsia Bibi, a Christian woman on death row for blasphemy.
