A special court is set to conduct a hearing in the cypher case involvingPTI Chairman Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, with thelikelihood of their indictment today (Monday). This hearing will bepresided over by Special court Judge Abu Alhasnaat Zulqurnain and isscheduled to take place within the confines of Adiala jail in Rawalpindi.
The preceding hearing occurred on October 17, intended for the purpose ofindicting Khan and Qureshi. However, the indictment was postponed due tochallenges related to the distribution of challan copies to the accused.
Notably, both politicians had declined to sign or receive these challansduring the previous hearing, resulting in the adjournment of the hearinguntil October 23.
This particular case is registered under the Official Secrets Act andalleges that Khan disclosed the contents of a classified cipher authored byPakistan’s ambassador in Washington.
Sources have revealed that the FIA’s challan accuses Khan of violating thelaw by retaining the cipher instead of returning it, with claims that acopy of the cipher has seemingly gone missing.
