Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir is excited about the prospect of BabarAzam making a significant impact in the World Cup with his batting skills.
During an interview on an Indian TV channel, Gambhir singled out Babar Azamas the batsman to watch in this World Cup. This choice by the former Indianbatsman sets Babar Azam apart from other renowned cricketers like India’sVirat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Australia’s David Warner, Steve Smith, NewZealand’s Kane Williamson, and England’s Joe Root.
According to Gambhir, “Babar Azam possesses all the qualities to shine inthis World Cup. I haven’t seen many players with his level of composure andtiming. While we have cricketing greats like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli,David Warner, Kane Williamson, and Joe Root, Babar Azam stands out as anexceptional talent.”
Babar Azam, Pakistan’s captain, currently holds the top spot in theInternational Cricket Council (ICC) rankings for one-day international(ODI) batsmen, with a remarkable rating of 857. In Testcricket, he is ranked fourth with a rating of 829.
He has maintained his status as the number one ODI batter for approximately900 days. The Pakistan cricket team will commence their World Cup campaignon October 6 with a match against the Netherlands in Hyderabad.
The most highly anticipated match of the tournament between Pakistan andIndia is scheduled for October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium inAhmedabad, with a massive crowd of 132,000 spectators expected to witnessthe clash.
