Senior journalist Kamran Yousuf has claimed that a high-ranking officialsent a clear message to Money Changers, stating that the dollar’s value is250 rupees, and they must maintain it at this level, after which he left.
In his blog, Kamran Yousuf explained that on September 5th, the dollar wasat its peak, but after administrative actions were taken, its value startedto decline.
He mentioned that on one hand, these actions were taking place, and on theother hand, well-known Money Changers in Pakistan were summoned for ameeting in Islamabad. Similar meetings had happened in the past, and MoneyChangers believed this meeting would be significant. However, when all theparticipants arrived, the organizers who had called the meeting also joinedat the end.
Kamran Yousuf stated that this meeting lasted only two minutes. Afterexchanging greetings, the host said, “You have been called here because theactual value of the dollar, as we have calculated, is 250 rupees, and wewant the dollar’s value to be 250 rupees. If you do not comply, you will beresponsible for the consequences.”
