NAB not to pursue cases of income tax and sales tax against business community

ISLAMABAD – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) will not pursue cases ofincome tax and sales tax against business community, it has been revealed.

Chairman Justice retired Javed Iqbal has announced that theanti-corruption watchdog will not pursue cases pertaining to income tax orsales tax against members of the business community, a press release issuedon Friday said.

The NAB chairman added that ongoing such cases against businessmen will besent to the Federal Board of Revenue and notices recently issued to ownersof flour mills by the anti-corruption watchdog’s Multan office aresuspended with immediate effect. He said he will personally look into thematter.

“NAB is a people and business-friendly institution and gives top priorityto solving problems being faced by the business community,” the pressrelease quoted the NAB chairman as saying.
