*RAWALPINDI: Authorities in the Adiala Jail have turned down a request ofMaryam Nawaz, daughter of imprisoned former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, toteach inmates in the Jail.*
The request of Maryam Nawaz was turned down because she is kept in asolitary confinement and under the prison rules she cannot interact withother inmates.
Meanwhile, a legal team of Sharifs was allowed to meet the former premierand his daughter in the jail couple of days ago.
It is also reported that son-in-law of Mr. Sharif, Capt (retd) Safdar isnot in solitary confinement and has been kept with former additionaldistrict and sessions judge Raja Khurram Ali Khan who along with his wifewas convicted in the housemaid torture case.
On July 21, public went into frenzy after a tweet was posted from MaryamNawaz’s verified Twitter account for the first time since her incarcerationin the Avenfield case.
The tweet shared a couplet by one of Urdu’s greatest poets Faiz Ahmed Faiz.It’s not yet confirmed whether Ms Nawaz personally tweeted it or somebodyfrom her social media account posted it to push the party narrative.
An accountability court on July 6 handed Nawaz Sharif 10 years in jail forowning assets beyond income in the Avenfield properties corruptionreference. The case was filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
His daughter Maryam Nawaz was given seven years for abetment, and herhusband Captain (retd) Safdar was given one year for non-cooperating withthe anti-graft authority.
