Pakistan and Qatar PMs held one on one meeting, key decisions taken

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and Qatar have agreed to take steps to enhance thebilateral cooperation in diverse areas including trade, energy, oil and gasexploration, besides tourism and defense.

The consensus to this effect was reached at the delegation level talks andone-on-one meeting between Prime Minister Imran Khan and Amir of QatarSheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Islamabad.

Along with a high level delegation comprising key ministers and seniorofficials, the Amir of Qatar is in Pakistan aon two-day official visit atthe invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Both the sides agreed to expand collaboration in the fields of agricultureand food, enhance cooperation in the energy sector including LNG and LPGfields and exploration and production of oil and gas.

The agreement was also reached to promote Qatar’s investments in energy,tourism and hospitality industries and increase the number of Pakistaniworkers employed in Qatar.

The two leadership agreed to expand cooperation in the fields of aviation,maritime affairs, higher education, and defence and defence production.

Pakistan and Qatar have also agreed to take steps to significantly increasebilateral trade, expand collaboration in agriculture and food sectors.

Prime Minister Imran Khan and HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani heldone-on-one meeting, followed by delegation-level talks in Islamabad onSaturday.

The two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in the energy sector includingin the LNG and LPG fields and exploration and production of oil and gas.

It was also agreed to promote Qatar’s investments in energy, tourism andhospitality industries.

Pakistan and Qatar agreed to increase the number of Pakistani workersemployed in Qatar, expand cooperation in the fields of aviation, maritimeaffairs, higher education, and defence and defence production.

The talks decided that the respective Ministers would hold furtherfollow-up talks on the areas to give concrete shape to the proposals agreedbetween the leaders.

The two leaders reaffirmed the closeness of Pakistan-Qatar fraternal tiesand reiterated the resolve to forge a robust political and economicpartnership.

Delegation level talks were held between Pakistani and Qatari delegations.

Prime Minister Imran Khan led the Pakistani delegation while Qatari sidewas headed by Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also hosted a Banquet Dinner in the honour ofQatari Amir and his entourage last night.

Amir of Qatar will meet President Dr.Arif Alvi in Islamabad today.

The visit of Amir of Qatar will further cement the relations between twocountries and give a significant boost to bilateral cooperation in diversefields.

Earlier, at the Prime Minister House, a smartly turned out contingentrepresenting army, navy and air force presented Guard of Honor to thedistinguished guest.

The Emir of Qatar inspected the Guard of Honor. National anthems of the twocountries were also played on the occasion.

Prime Minister introduced the distinguished guest with members of cabinetand the federal ministers.

Prime minister Imran Khan was also introduced with members of Qataridelegation.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani planted a sapling at the lawn of PrimeMinister House as per tradition.

A JF-17 squadron of PAF saluted the guest in a magnificent fly past.

Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived at Nur Khan Airbase inRawalpindi this afternoon on two day visit to Pakistan.

He is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
