*WASHINGTON: *President Donald Trump on Thursday congratulated India’sHindu nationalist Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his BJP party on theirlandslide election victory.
“Congratulations to Prime Minister @narendramodi and his BJP party on theirBIG election victory!” Trump tweeted.
“Great things are in store for the US-India partnership with the return ofPM Modi at the helm. I look forward to continuing our important worktogether!” Trump said.
Official data from the Indian Election Commission showed Modi’s BharatiyaJanata Party ahead in 302 of the 542 seats up for grabs, up from the 282 itwon in 2014 and more than the 272 seats needed for a majority in the lowerhouse of parliament.
