ISLAMABAD – Pakistan faces a setback on Kishanganga dam issue in WorldBank (WB) on Wednesday stated that its role as mediator is of technical innature and therefore, limited.
In a statement issued after two rounds of dialogues between Pakistanidelegation and WB officials, it had been stated that both parties ponderedseveral options over conflicts arising from violations of Indus WaterTreaty but no agreement had been reached.
However, WB vowed to continue work as guarantor in an unbiased andtransparent manner to solve the issues between two parties.
It is worth here to mention that WB is the guarantor of the agreement.India had started the work on the 330 MW Kishanganga Dam in 2009, butPakistan took the issue to the International Court of Justice and alsoraised the issue with the World Bank.
