LONDON – South African cricketer AB de Villiers Wednesday announced suddenretirement from international cricket with immediate effect.
The 34-year-old batsman posted a video message on popular micro-bloggingwebsite Twitter.
“I want to let you know that I’ve decided to retire from all internationalcricket with immediate effect. After 114 Test matches, 228 ODIs and 78T20Is it is time for others to take over. To be honest, I’m tired. This isa tough decision but I would love to retire while still playing decentcricket. And after the fantastic series against Australia and India, now Ifeel right time to step down”.
“I would always be grateful to my teammates, the coaches and Cricket SouthAfrica for their support”, stated right hand batsman on his Twitter account.
AB had made his Test and ODI debuts against England in 2004 and 2005respectively.
