For the first time in last 2 years, Pakistan reports zero deaths form COVID

Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar announced on Wednesday thatPakistan reported no Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours for thefirst time in two years since the outbreak of the virus.

The minister took to Twitter and said, “Alhamdulillah no covid relateddeaths reported in the country in the last 24 hours. This is the first timein 2 years that this has happened.”

Last week, the country lifted all corona-related restrictions in view ofthe continuous declining trend of the disease in the country.

Briefing media persons along with Special Assistant on National HealthServices Dr Faisal Sultan in Islamabad, Umar had said restrictions such asthose on indoor and outdoor dining, wedding halls, markets and religiousgatherings were being done away with.

He, however, had said the condition of vaccination for the air travellerswould stay in place.

Umar had claimed the decision of lifting the restrictions was aimed atreviving normalcy in people’s life. He, however, did clarify the pandemicwas not over.
