ISLAMABAD – As Malaysia announced to set up a car manufacturing factory inPakistan, Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad gifted a Proton car to Imran Khanon Friday.
Proton factory in Karachi will be a joint effort between the Malaysiancarmaker and its local partner Alhaj Automotive. This would be thecompany’s first assembly plant set up in any South Asian country.
The Malaysian-based corporation, Proton was established in 1983 and has sofar sold 3 million cars.
