Qatari envoy unveils the details of the signing ceremony of the historic Afghanistan peace deal

ISLAMABAD – Qatari envoy unveils the details of the signing ceremony of thehistoric Afghanistan peace deal.

Mutlaq Bin Majed Al-Qahtani, Special Envoy of the Foreign Minister of theState of Qatar, who visited Kabul on Sunday, said that the US-Taliban dealwill be signed in Doha and that some countries and the United Nations havebeen invited to this event.

He said joint efforts by Afghans for peace is the key to success in theprocess, TOLO News has reported.

Qatar has hosted the US-Taliban talks over the past 18 months, and it hostsa Taliban political office in Doha.

The Qatari envoy met with President Ghani and a number of political figuresin Kabul.

“Quite important countries and organizations, permanent and non-permanentmembers in the security council, neighboring countries and all thestakeholders–all those countries who are going to support the peaceprocess of Afghanistan–will attend the signing ceremony, he told TOLOnews.

“I met with the president, we had very intensive talks about the peaceprocess, about the reduction in violence, about the signing of theagreement to end the war in Afghanistan,” he added. “Hopefully, we canconclude this and sign it in Doha on the 29 this month.”
