Who are the two top Pak Army officials arrested over espionage charges?

RAWALPINDI – Two high-ranking officers of Pakistan Army have been arrestedunder espionage charges and are facing an inquiry, Army’s media wingrevealed on Friday.

Director General Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) Major General AsifGhafoor said in a press briefing that the two military officers are facinggeneral field court-martial.

He refrained from giving away the names or the ranks of the arrestedofficers but said they worked individually and were not part of any network.

DG ISPR also did not disclose when they were arrested or the name of thecountries they were spying for.——————————

However, he considered their arrest a breakthrough and success of thePakistan Army.

Some media outlets have quoted inside sources to report that the arrestsare a major success for the forces because one of these officers was aLieutenant General while the other was a Brigadier of Pak Army.

DG ISPR also informed the media that former ISI chief General (retd) AsadDurrani was found guilty of breaching the army’s code of conduct and waspunished by stopping his pension and other benefits.

Last year, Durrani’s controversial book had surfaced which he co-authoredwith a former Indian spy chief A S Dulat – going against Pakistan Army’srules.

Note that ProPakistani had published a report in January this year (linkedabove) revealing the fact that Pak Army has uprooted a spy network in thecountry that included a couple of senior military officers.
