Massive crackdown in Indian Occupied Kashmir, over 150 people arrested by Indian troops

ISLAMABAD – Indian police and troops have launched a massive crackdownarresting over 150 people including pro-freedom leaders and activists.

According to Kashimir Media Service (KMS) , Indian police took the Jammuand Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, into custodyafter raiding his Maisuma residence in Srinagar and lodged him at Kothibaghpolice station.

Indian troops and police arrested dozens of leaders and activists ofJamaat-e-Islami of the occupied territory from their residences duringnocturnal raids across the occupied territory.

Those arrested included JI Ameer, Dr Abdul Hamid Fayaz, Advocate Zahid Ali,Ghulam Qadir Lone, Abdur Rauf, Mudassir Ahmed, Abdul Salam, BakhtawarAhmed, Muhammad Hayat, Bilal Ahmed and Ghulam Muhammad Dar.

Meanwhile, the family members of a youth arrested in Deoband town ofSaharanpur, yesterday, staged a protest in Srinagar, today, to demand hisrelease.

Uttar Pradesh police had on Friday claimed that Shahnawaz Ahmed Teli andanother youth, identified as Aaqib Ahmed Malik of Pulwama, were arrested inDeoband and they had affiliation with a mujahid organisation.

However, the family of Shahnawaz Ahmed Teli trashed the police claims,saying that he was being framed under a false name.

The family members came all the way from Kulgam in south Kashmir to PressEnclave in Srinagar where they staged a demonstration demanding hisimmediate release.
