ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi returned to country onFriday evening after his two-day visit to Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.
Pakistan signed an important agreement of power transmissions line fromTurkeministan and Afghanistan which gives another energy line to Pakistanfrom Central Asia.
During the two-nation visit, the Prime Minister attended the link-upground-breaking ceremonies of TAPI (Turkmenistan-AfghanistanPakistan-India) gas pipeline project held in Serhatabad (Turkmenistan) andHarat (Afghanistan), respectively.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi attended the link-upground-breaking ceremonies of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India(TAPI) gas pipeline project and laying of power transmission lines andfibre optic, here at the Serhatabad city of Turkmenistan.
This was the first leg of the ground-breaking ceremony, which was alsoattended by Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Presidentof Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani and India’s Minister of State for ExternalAffairs M J Akbar, according to information received here.
An agreement on Tukrmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power line was alsosigned on the occasion.
A Pakistani cultural troupe performed at the occasion along with theircounterparts from partner TAPI countries. Prime Minister Abbasi will laterproceed to Herat, Afghanistan to attend the second leg of theground-breaking ceremony.
The ambitious natural gas pipeline project entered its practical phase inPakistan after the process of initiating front-end-engineering-and-design(FEED) route survey was formally inaugurated last year.
