Ruling PML-N declared as least democratic political party of Pakistan

LAHORE: Pakistan Institute of Legislative Department and Transparency (PILDAT) has issued a report over the democracy in political parties of Pakistan. The report revealed that Jamaat Islaami JI is the most Democratic Party while ruling PML-N is the least democratic party of Pakistan.

As per details, JI has internal democratic system and JI is the only party which conducts party elections regularly so there is democratic culture present in this party.

Replacement of leadership through timely elections, regular session of Majlis-e-Amla and lack of motivation of inherent leadership in party are the main factors which played an important role in acknowledging the JI as most Democratic Party.

Baluchistan National Party is the second and PTI is the third most democratic political party. According to PILDAT report, Awami National Party ANP and Pakistan People Party PPP comes on 4th and 5th position respectively.

MQM and JUI declared as the 6th democratic parties while PML-N declared as least Democratic Party and came on 7th position consecutively in the second year.

Report further added that popularity of the most political parties depend on their leaders while the process of funding of political parties is not clear.
