Pakistan is considering a second bailout package worth $35.58 million forthe Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan, New York, which is owned by PakistanInternational Airlines Investment Limited (PIAIL), a subsidiary of PakistanInternational Airlines (PIA).
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of Pakistan has decided to set upa panel to provide the bailout package for the property that has falleninto debt.——————————
It had approved a loan of $142 million from the National Bank of Pakistanwith a per year mark-up of $5.9 million to furnish the immediate financialneeds of the hotel in September 2020, followed by an additional $13 millionas a yearly carrying cost until a lease agreement with a joint venturepartner would be finalized.
In 2019, PIAIL risked losing the Manhattan property and the Scribe Hotel inParis following the enforcement of an international arbitration decision bythe British Islands that would have resulted in the handing over theseproperties as a settlement to the Tethyan Copper Company (TCC) for thecanceling of its mining license in Balochistan.——————————

Pakistan had canceled the mining licenses of the TCC for the Reko Diq goldand copper mines in Balochistan due to irregularities. However, the TCC hadclaimed that they had been unlawfully stopped from conducting miningoperations.
