ISLAMABAD – WhatsApp – a messaging application allows the sending of textmessages and voice calls – broke down temporarily on Tuesday, affecting atleast over a billion users and leaving them unable to chat.
According to the website Down Detector, the problems were reported acrossthe world, and on various platforms including iPhone and Android.
Messages could not be received or sent, according to affected users.
The problems did not appear to be affecting every user, with some able toget onto both the app and its desktop and web versions.

WhatsApp does not maintain a status website to check the availability ofits platform or when those will be fixed.
Though it has a public-facing Twitter feed, it has not posted since 2016and often does not inform users of outages.
