Pakistan Hockey gets the worst blow from International Hockey Federation

LAHORE – International Hockey Federation (FIH) on Wednesday suspendedPakistan’s participation in 2019 FIH Pro Hockey League which kicked-offlast Saturday in Valencia.

In reply, FIH said Pakistan’s withdrawal from the initial matches wouldjeopardise the tournament. Subsequently, they had left with “no otheroption but to suspend Pakistan from the event”

“Pakistan will not take part in the 2019 FIH Pro League,” said FIH in astatement.

“The Pakistan Hockey Association informed FIH today that they were nolonger able to play their first three games planned against Argentina,Australia and New Zealand, citing inevitable circumstances,” the statementadds.

Therefore, according to the statement, the International Hockey Federationhas taken the decision to suspend the Asian team from the 2019 FIH ProLeague in order not to jeopardize the regularity and the smooth delivery ofthe event.

FIH CEO Thierry Weil said expressed his regret over Pakistan’s decision towithdraw from first three games.
