ICC to decide Pakistan Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed fate

ISLAMABAD – The match referee for the five-match ODI series betweenPakistan and South Africa, Ranjan Madhugalle has sent his report to theInternational Cricket Council after summoning Sarfraz Ahmed regarding hisracist comments against Andile Phehlukwayo.

During the second ODI against the Proteas, Pakistan’s skipper was caught onstump mic saying, *“Abey Kaaley, Teri Ammi *aaj kahan baithi huieen hain*,Hain??? Kya *parhwa ke* aya hai *aaj tu*?” *(“Hey black [man], where isyour mother sitting? What prayer did you get her to say for you today?”)

The next morning, Madhugalle summoned Sarfraz Ahmed in the hotel beforeleaving Durban, where he accepted his mistake, apologized and feltembarrassed for the words he uttered. He also expressed that he did notintend to say anything racist.

However, the wicketkeeper-batsman’s fate will be decided by the higherauthorities of the ICC, which includes the chief executive David Richardsonas well.
