Islamabad: Nepra has decided to increase electricity prices by 3.28 rupees per unit during a three-month adjustment period, according to ARY News. This decision will also affect electric consumers.
Nepra's decision to raise electricity prices has been forwarded to the federal government, and the increase will be implemented after government approval.
According to Nepra, this increase will impose an additional burden of 160 billion rupees on electricity consumers. Nepra has stated that this adjustment was made during the fourth three-month adjustment period of the fiscal year 2022-23.
Electricity consumers will have to make additional payments over the next six months, from October 2023 to March 2024. It should be noted that earlier, the Minister of Energy, Muhammad Ali, had stated that an increase in gas prices is unavoidable, and they will soon announce changes in prices.
He mentioned that the gas prices would increase for household consumers but would remain unchanged for low-income consumers. He also indicated that they would resolve the gas price issue soon, and changes in prices would be announced shortly.
