On Friday, the caretaker federal government designated Dr. Amjad Saqib as the Chairman of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). President Dr. Arif Alvi gave his approval for this appointment in accordance with section 53 of the Benazir Income Support Program Act 2010.
Dr. Amjad Saqib, the founder of the microfinance program Akhuwat, has also been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize this year for his remarkable humanitarian efforts in combating poverty.
Notably, 343 individuals from various parts of the world were nominated for this year's Nobel Peace Prize. Dr. Amjad, the Chairman of Akhuwat Foundation, expressed that his dedication lies in serving humanity for the sake of Allah, surpassing the need for awards.
