ISLAMABAD - Registration of 10 Medical and Dental Colleges across Pakistan cancelled by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.
(PMDC) has revoked the registration of 10 private medical colleges and barred them from admitting new students.
Moreover, PMDC has announced to adjust the students already enrolled in these 10 colleges to PMDC recognized and the federal government notified colleges, ensuring that the academic efforts of the students don’t go in vain.
Here are the 10 colleges whose registration has been nullified by the PMDC:
1. Abbottabad International Medical College, Abbottabad 2. Fazaia Ruth PFAO Medical College, Karachi 3. Dow Dental College, Karachi 4. Muhammad Dental College, Mirpur Khas 5. Swat Medical College, Swat 6. Shifa College of Dentistry Shifa Tameer-e-Millat, Islamabad 7. Azra Naheed Dental College, Lahore 8. Watim Medical College, Rawalpindi 9. Khairpur Medical College, Khairpur Mirs 10. Dental Section Rawal Institute of Health Sciences, Islamabad
The council has also ordered these colleges to transfer the fees collected from students to PMDC within a month so it can adjust the students to accredited colleges at the earliest.
The official statement from the PMDC reads:
It is informed to all the concerned through the public notice that since all the actions taken and decisions made by the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) have been declared unlawful, provisional accreditation/registration would sail in the same boat especially when there is no provision for such accreditation or registration.
In October 2019, Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) was constituted by an ordinance promulgated by President Arif Alvi, dissolving the PMDC. PMDC employees had challenged the formation of PMC in the Islamabad High Court (IHC). IHC abolished the formation of PMC in February, restoring the PMDC to its previous status.
These 10 colleges were registered after inspection during the tenure of the PMC. PMDC will now carry out the inspection of these colleges in the coming months to decide to grant these colleges PMDC registration or not.
