LAHORE – New progress has been reported in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Saturday in Ashiana Housing Scheme reference.

NAB has filed the supplementary reference in the Ashiana Iqbal scandal.

As many as 13 people, including Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif, Ahad Cheema, Fawad Hassan Fawad, Nadeem Zia, Kamran Kayani, Shahid Shafique, Bilal Qadwai and Munir Zia, have been nominated in the reference.

The 1,000-page supplementary reference contains three volumes.

The reference accuses Shehbaz Sharif of misusing his powers and causing a loss to the national exchequer.

According to the reference, Shehbaz Sharif got the powers of PLDC Board of Directors and asked the company illegally to give the Ashiana project to the LDA. At that time, Ahad Cheema was heading the LDA.

It alleges that Shehbaz Sharif illegally cancelled the contract of Latif and Sons Company illegally and gave the contract to his favourite Bismillah Engineering.

According to the reference, Fawad Hassan Fawad tried to give the contract to his favourite company, while Shehbaz Sharif ordered to stop the bidding process of the PLDC, which was running the Ashiana Iqbal project since 2013.
