Former president and Co-Chairman of PPP Asif Ali Zardari has got anotherrelief as an accountability court has sent back the suspicious transactionsreference against him to the NAB.
An accountability court in Islamabad on Wednesday heard a petitionchallenging the hearing of a reference against former president Zardari insuspicious transactions case after the enactment of new NAB law.
Zardari’s lawyer Farooq Naek and NAB prosecutor Sohail Arif appeared beforethe court.
While presenting his arguments, Naek contended that Zardari had nothing todo with this reference. He said after the promulgation of amended NAO, thiscourt did not have the jurisdiction to hear this reference.
He pleaded with the court to give decision on the applications as per thelaw.
After hearing arguments, Administrative Judge Muhammad Bashir announced hisdecision directing the authorities to send the reference to the concernedforum.
The NAB had filed this reference in the accountability court last year.
