Pakistan approaches UN against India over extrajudicial killings of 11 Pakistani Hindus

ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari hasdemanded the United Nations to probe the extrajudicial killings of 11Pakistani Hindus by India and ensure payment of reparations to families ofthe deceased.

In a letter written to UN High Commissioner, Mazari said the extrajudicialexecutions by Indian security forces in Manipur, have not been fullyinvestigated, and the state of India has failed to fulfil its obligation tocarry out a prompt, thorough and effective investigation which is a clearbreach to the Vienna Convention.

The Minister in the letter demanded the constitution of an investigationteam, under the auspices of the UN and urged India to allow the team forconducting a free, fair and impartial investigation into the matter andhanding over of the dead bodies of deceased to family members.

According to the state broadcaster, the letter said India should respectinternational human rights law by ending impunity for the conduct ofofficials involved in gross human rights violations.

In August 2020, eleven Pakistan Hindus were executed extra judicially inJodhpur District, of Indian state of Rajasthan.
