World Health Organisation lauds PTI government efforts for universal health coverage across country

ISLAMABAD – The World Health Organization (WHO) commended the strongcommitment of Pakistan in attaining universal health coverage, *RadioPakistan* reported.

According to details, the appreciation came from the organization’sRegional Director for Eastern Mediterranean Dr Ahmed Al-Mandhari, onconclusion of his first two-day official visit to Pakistan.

The role of Ministry of National Health Services in polio eradication andadvancing the agenda of the government for universal health coverage wasparticularly acknowledged by Dr Al-Mandhari.

Further, the director also recognized the ministry’s initiatives forpopulation control, expanding health insurance and strengtheningfamily-based health care in the country.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had emphasized on the need of paying specialattention to increase country’s export potential in the medical sector.

PM Khan had said that best healthcare facilities to the general public wasthe foremost priority of his government.
