NAB Chief threatened with SP Tahir Dawar style murder

ISLAMABAD – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chief Javed Iqbal hasbeen threatened with consequences similar to ones faced by slain policeofficer SP Tahir Dawar.

The bureau has nabbed a man from Lahore who had dispatched an ‘unknownletter’ to the Chairman, Justice (r) Javed Iqbal threatening that he wouldface the same consequences as faced by Superintendent Police Tahir Dawar.

In the letter, the NAB chief was asked to withdraw the cases filed againstformer prime minister Nawaz Sharif otherwise he would meet the same fate asthe police officer.

The bureau is expected to present the suspect before a magistrate today;the identity of the suspect has not been revealed.

Tahir Dawarlinkwasmurdered last month in Afghanistan. His body was discovered from Nangarharprovince after he disappeared from Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad. TahirDawar, who belonged to North Waziristan, was posted as the Rural SP inPeshawar a couple of months back.

Before that, he had served as Faqirabad DSP. He also served in the FederalInvestigation Agency (FIA) and was posted at the Peshawar internationalairport for some time.
