Pakistan’s former captain, Babar Azam, is just two points away fromreclaiming his title as the No. 1 ODI batsman in the ICC rankings. In thelatest rankings released on Wednesday, Indian player Shubman Gill holds thetop spot with 826 rating points, while Babar Azam remains in second placewith 824 points.

Virat Kohli’s efforts to regain the top position have gained momentumafter his outstanding performance in the recent ICC Men’s Cricket WorldCup, where he scored a tournament-best 765 runs. This propelled him tothird place in the latest rankings, just 35 rating points behind histeammate Shubman Gill.

India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, climbed one spot to secure the fourthposition with 769 rating points. South Africa opener Quinton de Kockdropped two spots to fifth, while New Zealand right-hander Daryl Mitchellrose five spots to sixth, thanks to his impressive 552 runs at the WorldCup.

In the ODI bowler rankings, South Africa spinner Keshav Maharaj maintainshis position at the top. Australian players made significant progress aftera successful World Cup campaign, with experienced seamer Josh Hazlewoodrising four places to second overall.

Another Australian quick, Mitchell Starc, climbed eight spots to 12th, andskipper Pat Cummins improved seven places to 27th. India’s bowling pair,Mohammed Siraj (third) and Jasprit Bumrah (fourth), remain firmly withinthe top 10 for ODI bowlers.
