Legendary cricketer Basit Ali, a former batter, has joined the chorus ofvoices critiquing the squad announcement for the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cupby Inzamam-ul-Haq, where he criticized the selection process, suggestingthat friendships may have influenced the choices made.
He particularly questioned the inclusion of players like Mohammad Harisand Mohammad Wasim Jnr., implying that their selection may not have beensolely based on merit.
This comes after Inzamam-ul-Haq cited an injury to Naseem Shah as thereason for replacing him with Hasan Ali in the 18-member squad for thetournament scheduled to take place in India from October to November.
