ABU DHABI: Pakistan defeated Afghanistan in a nail biting thriller, asShoaib Malik hit 10 runs on two balls of the last over.
Pakistan won by three wickets in the Asia Cup’s Super-4match,with ShoaibMalik steering them to victory in the last over with back-to-back boundaries
Batting first, Afghanistan scored 257-6 with Hashmatullah Shahidi,finishing at a brilliantly-paced 118-ball 97 not out, and added 94 for thefourth wicket with his skipper Asghar Afghan, who smashed five sixes andtwo fours in his 56-ball 67.
But it was Shahidi who held one end against Pakistan’s bowling in aninnings which featured seven boundaries after left-arm spinner MohammadNawaz (3-57) had put the brakes on Afghanistan’s early progress.
