Pakistan Railways to be connected with Russia through Afghanistan- Uzbekistan route

Uzbek Ambassador to Pakistan Aybek Arif Usmanov has said that theUzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan trilateral railway project will soon bematerialized making regional re-connectivity possible.

The Uzbek envoy made these remarks during the roundtable on the 30 years ofPakistan and Uzbekistan diplomatic relations and chairmanship of Uzbekistanin the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The ambassador said that Transit Trade Agreement (TTA) between Pakistan andUzbekistan will allow the regional countries to expand their trade andtransit horizons. Over the past 30 years, Pakistan and Uzbekistan havediversified relations and made a substantial contribution toward regionalpeace and stability.

He said that both countries have developed stronger and deeper ties intrade, health, security, agriculture, and information technology. Thecooperation between the two countries is building further with each passingday. He said there is ever deeper and close cooperation in political,economic, and security fields.

In her opening remarks, President of the Institute of Peace and DiplomaticStudies Farhat Asif highlighted the significance of thirty years ofPakistan-Uzbekistan relations and the importance of the chairmanship ofUzbekistan in SCO where the country has made substantial contributions byhosting scores of events of diversified nature.

The event was hosted by the Centre for Central Asia and EurasianStudies-Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies in collaboration with theEmbassy of Uzbekistan to Pakistan and the Riphah Institute of Public Policy.
