PML N workers attack Anti Narcotics Court building in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI – Pakistan Muslim league-Nawaz (PML-N) workers got furious overthe verdict in ephedrine case against Hanif Abbasi and broke the windowpanes of anti-narcotics court building.——————————

On Saturday, special court handed life imprisonment to Hanif Abbasi inephedrine quota case after which, he was shifted to Adiala Jail.

Hanif Abbasi had provided legal use of as much as 363KG ephedrine whereashe was failed to submit the evidence pertaining to legal usage of 137KGephedrine in the court.

Judge Sardar Muhammad Akram pronounced the judgment and also imposed a fineof Rs1 million on the PML-N leader.

However, seven other accused in ephedrine case were acquitted by the court.

In the light of court’s verdict, Hanif Abbasi has been barred fromcontesting elections from Rawalpindi’s NA-60.

It is to be mentioned here that Hanif Abbasi was accused of selling as muchas 500kg of controlled chemical ephedrine to the narcotics smugglers. Allrequests of Hanif Abbasi aimed at delaying the ephedrine case by ten dayswas rejected by the courts.

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) had registered the case against Abbasi andhis accomplices back then in June 2012 under various sections of theControl of Narcotics Substances (CNS) Act.

The anti-narcotics court had indicted Hanif Abbasi and the other accusedback then in 2014.
