Pakistan Afghanistan working group first ever meeting held in Kabul

KABUL – First meeting of the working group between Pakistan and Afghanistanwas held in Kabul today.

According to Foreign Office spokesperson, the talks were held under theAfghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS) .

Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua led a 28 member Pakistani delegation tothe talks whereas Afghan side was represented by Deputy Afghan ForeignMinister Hekmat Khalil Karzai.

Both sides agreed to improve coordination between working groups andimplementation on action plan. Five working groups have been constitutedunder the plan which provides a platform to both countries to talk atinstitutional level.

Both delegations discussed at length the need for cooperation to eliminateterrorism. They also discussed the issues of regional peace and return ofAfghan refugees.
