PM Imran Khan launches three new Ehsaas Initiatives across the country

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan says the government is implementingsmart lockdown in Coronavirus hotspots of the country to protect mainly themost vulnerable people.

He was speaking at the ceremony for commencement of three Ehsaasinitiatives, including Ehsaas Rashan Portal, Ehsaas Langar and Panagah Appand PM’s COVID Relief Fund website, in Islamabad today (Monday).

The Prime Minister said the elderly people and those already suffering fromserious diseases are the most vulnerable people; and if they are protectedagainst Coronavirus, the impact of the pandemic will get considerablyreduced. He said the next one month is difficult for dealing with thepandemic.

Imran Khan said Ehsaas program and the government’s policy of easing thelockdown have helped lessen the effect of the COVID-19. He said in India,the complete lockdown has severely affected the poverty-stricken people andmade about 34 percent people either hungry or prone to diseases.

The Prime Minister said PM’s Corona Relief Fund has been established tofinancially help the people who lost their employments because of thelockdown.

He said the government will add four rupees against each rupee donated inthe fund. He said the website of the Fund will help donors reach thedeserving people. He said the government will continue facilitating aconnection between donors and the deserving people.

He said the government will incrementally increase the number of Panagahsand Langarkhanas to expand the network. He said donors will be informedabout their every penny donated for welfare of the people. He saidPakistanis are one of the most charity-giving nations.

Special Assistant on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation briefed thePrime Minister on the three new initiatives of Ehsaas programme.

The commencement of Ehsaas Rashan Portal, Ehsaas Langar and Panagah App andPM’s Covid Relief Fund website is aimed at facilitating and empoweringwelfare organizations and enabling them to play a more coordinated rolewith the government in responding to the COVID-19 situation.
