The PKR gained 9 paisas against the USD today, closing at Rs. 153.356 tothe USD at the end of the trading day today (Friday, 21 May) compared toRs. 152.455 to the USD on Thursday (20 May).
PKR lost over a rupee (Rs. 1.07) to the greenback over the current weekdespite the moderate improvement recorded today.
Dealers said that the local unit is under pressure primarily due toimporters’ and companies’ increased demands for the USD. During theprevious weeks, dollar inflows from Overseas Pakistanis had helped theRupee to be steady, but consistent dollar demand from importers andcompanies is putting pressure on the local unit.
Against other major currencies, Rupee had been posting mixed results forthe better part of the week and today turned out to be no different.
