Iranian Foreign Minister to visit Pakistan for a crucial tour

ISLAMABAD: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad ZarifIranian to visitPakistan for a crucial tour amid tensions with America.

He is expected to visit Islamabad later this week for consultations withthe Pakistani leadership, a senior diplomatic source said on Tuesday. Thevisit will take place amidst Iran’s escalating tensions with the UnitedStates.

The source said FM Zarif would meet civilian and military leaders duringhis daylong stay in Islamabad. He said Mr Zarif would discuss the regionalsituation during his meetings in Islamabad in addition to bilateralmatters, especially border security.

The trip will come days before the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’stwo-day summit in Makkah from May 30 to 31.

Saudi Arabia has, meanwhile, also scheduled an emergency summit of the ArabLeague. Saudi official newswire *SPA* said that King Salman had invitedArab League members to the meeting scheduled for May 30 to discuss therecent “aggression and their consequences”.
