The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed Wasim Khan has beenappointed as ICC General Manager – Cricket and will take up his post nextmonth.
Wasim, who has previously served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) ofthe Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Leicestershire County Cricket Club,will replace Geoff Allardice – who spent eight years in the role beforebeing appointed as the ICC CEO.
Taking to Twitter, ICC announced the appointment of the former PCB CEO asthe new General Manager of Cricket.
Wasim, on the other hand, in an ICC released statement, shared hisexcitement and said he is honoured to be joining the cricket council.
“I am honoured to be joining the ICC, I can’t wait to get started and workin partnership with our Members to strengthen and grow our sport. I’mparticularly excited by the ICC’s commitment to the growth of the women’sgame, and I look forward to playing my part in really accelerating thatgrowth over the next decade,” Wasim said.
The newly appointed CEO of the ICC, Allardice heaped praises on Wasim’sabilities and welcomed the latter on board.
