Pakistan and Malaysia ink five important agreements, JF 17 Jets to be showcased at Malaysian Defence Expo

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and Malaysia signed memorandums of understanding forcooperation in five major projects in the car assembly, meat, telecom andstone sectors.

Mayasia has invited Pakistan to participate in a defence exhibition ithosts, said Federal Finance Minister Asad Umar in an informal media talk onFriday.

“Pakistan will showcase its JF17 Thunder — the fighter jet it indigenouslydeveloped in collaboration with China,” he said. “Malaysia has alsoexpressed an interest in purchasing rice and halal meat from Pakistan.”

Pakistan will soon implement an agreement to export anti-tank missiles toMalaysia, he said.

In the meantime, both countries have agreed to open branches of their banksin each other’s countries, he said. The finance minister added thatPakistan will capitalize on the Malaysian experience in the tourismindustry.

Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad arrived in Pakistan on athree-day visit Thursday night. He was given a 21-gun salute on hisarrival.

The Malaysian PM is visiting the country on the invitation of PM ImranKhan. He will attend the Pakistan Day parade on March 23 as the chief guest.
