MAIMANA – The Afghan Taliban have shot dead operational unit commander ofpolice for Sherin Tagab district with sniper shot in western Faryabprovince, an official said on Thursday.

Police spokesman Abdul Karim Yoresh told Pajhwok Afghan News Zalmai Akbarai— known as Zalmai Bai — was shot dead on Wednesday evening whileconstructing check-post on main road in Sherin Tagab district.

Zalmai was the nephew of Mohammad Hashim Awartaq, member of the Wolesi Jirgalink>.
