ISLAMABAD – Pakistan responds over the historic peace deal between US andAfghan Taliban.
Pakistan welcomes the announcementlinkregardingthe signing of a possible deal between the United States and AfghanTaliban, the Foreign Office said on Friday.
It said Islamabad “look[s] forward to the signing of the agreement”, whichAfghan officials have said could be finalised on February 29.
The statement comes after officials earlier in the day said a week-long”reduction in violence” between the Taliban, the US, and Afghan securityforces is slated to commence over the weekend.
If the partial truce goes ahead, it would mark a historic step in more than18 years of gruelling conflict in Afghanistan and would pave the way for adeal that could, ultimately, see the war end.
